For those seeking to get away from it all... Quiet and nature abounds at the Kapaa Cabin set amongst an organic orchard of tropical fruit trees and plants.
The cabin is your private little Kauai enclave: it’s all yours. With the curtains open, you can gaze into the kitchen.
The above dresser is perfect for storing lots of your clothes.
All the curtains close for total privacy.
The kitchen is connected to the cabin and is protected from the elements.
The fruit here on the kitchen table is all from our small farm-gardens. We grow small amounts for self sufficiency and sell or trade excess. We grow fresh bananas, avocados, Tahitian limes, Kefir lime leaves, papayas, oranges and soursop. ( soursop on far right). Our guests enjoy reasonable, market prices.
This is a back to the land Hawaii, Gilligan’s Island-living experience.
The outdoor kitchen has running water, mini-bar fridge, easy-to-use
2 burner cook stove, coffee maker, toaster, rice cooker, pots and pans,
cups, plates, basic cooking supplies, some salt, spices, etc.
One can be at the sink and look into the quaint cabin if the privacy curtains are open.
A variety of cooking supplies are here. We keep a lot of supplies in the Tupperwear container.
The kitchen is equipped with a toaster, double burner , rice cooker, and coffee maker. And lots of pans.
The stainless steel double sink is close to the garden and orange tree.
Other features include:
shared laundry, outside hot shower and an indoor (unfinished) bathroom.
The cabin is simple, comfortable, and exotic.
The cabin experience is Gilligan Island kind-living here on Gilligan’s Island!
You are surrounded by acres of open land, a pineapple field, flower and vegetable farming.
When you arrive, you can pull up and unload your goodies. It's just a short 40 foot walk to the cabin. That is Tuxedo, our friendly dog. I think he’s in the middle of some heavy thoughts.
For those seeking to get away from it all… quietude and nature abounds
Leave your stress behind and immerse yourself in old country living at the Kapaa cabin
The garden has a gorgeous mountain view in the background of “Makaleha” mountain.
The English translation of Makaleha is: “Eyes looking about in awe and admiration”.
Sometimes Makaleha has beautiful thousand-foot waterfalls, which can be seen from the garden.
View above is a view from the garden with a Zoom camera.
Outside the cabin : fruit trees plus
As you step out of the cabin, a very nice garden. Fruit trees and birdsong abound.
Lots of limes and oranges in season, apple bananas, avocados, soursop, perhaps and more.
We like to share the bounty of the fruits. Feel like weeding or gardening?
We have shovels and rakes available!
Sweet fresh-picked pineapples for your smoothies, or dessert can be available when in season. Being next door to a pineapple field is wonderful.
A pineapple field is actually next door, behind the banana plants. Yes! Pineapples.
So, Fresh picked pineapples, when in season.
Fruit trees, quiet, nature and birdsong abound. What do you think?
Is this the kind of experience you are looking for? This is for individuals who want quiet, solitude, and nature. Crickets are about the only sound you hear at night. Ahhh, country living.
We are very fortunate to not have neighbors with barking dogs, so it is very quiet during the day and night.
The hot outdoor shower
This is the outside hot shower. The window has fabric covering for privacy.
Enjoy the feel of trade-winds in the hot shower after a fun Hawaiian adventure.
The green wood bench is perfect for sitting. The door closes with a brass latch. Nice!
The hot outdoor shower is nestled amongst colorful flowers.
That’s Tuxedo leading you to the shower steps. The cabin is behind him.
Walking to the indoor bathroom
The bathroom is up those four steps. The toilet is in a large unfinished room that is underneath the main house. It is about 50 feet from the cabin.
Occasionally, we will use the toilet, and shower when gardening but we have one upstairs, as well as our own shower and tub. So, primarily, the bathroom and shower are used by you.
Looking back from the bathroom steps, there's the cabin (and Tuxedo).
Here is the door to the laundry room, just past the shower.
In the Laundry room, is more towels, more kitchen stuff, linens and 2 boogie boards you might want to use. This room could be a good place to store your luggage if you’d like.
Laundry: We have a washing machine, and sink in the Laundry room. We have 3 outdoor
(2 protected from the rain) clothes lines to dry sheets and clothes like our grandmothers did.
10 minute walk to Hoopii forest trail-head.
You are a 10 minute walk to the forest trailhead to the two Hoopii
waterfalls and remarkable, fairyland forest. All you have to do is take a short 10 minute walk and you're at the trail...... Yes!
We are a 7 minute drive to Kealia beach and Kapaa town. Very central, yet in the county.
That concludes our visual tour. If it sounds like a place you would enjoy, please contact us soon with the dates you are coming to Kauai.
